Headline: Trump warns North Korea: “Gotta Behave”

Summary:  President Trump had a message Monday for the North Korean ruler, Kim Jong Un : “Gotta Behave”.  At the same time, Vice President Mike Pence warned that

America’s “era of strategic patience is over”.

 

Thoughts about reporters:  Excellent job.  In addition to quoting Trump’s statement, they also expounded on Pence’s follow-up on statements regarding patience of the United States.

 

 

 

 

Headline:  Fugitive Mexican ex-governor arrested for graft, awaits extradition

 

Byline: Sofia Menchu

 

Summary:  A former Mexican state governor, Javier Duarte, wanted for charges of graft and organized crime, was detained in a hotel lobby in Panajachel.  He was transferred to the Malamoros prison in downtown Guatemala City awaiting extradition.

 

Thoughts about reporter:  Very well written article with direct quotes from police and a statement from the attorney representing Mr. Duarte.

 

 

 

Headline:  Dodgers unveil Jackie Robinson statue

 

Byline: Wave wire Services

 

Summary:  A statue of Jackie Robinson was unveiled April 15th at Dodger Stadium on the 70th anniversary of his breaking major league baseball color line.  The statue is the first at Dodger statum and shows Robinson sliding into home plate during his rookie year in 1947.

 

Thoughts about reporter:  Written with concise and informative information.  Article included some details of Robinson’s career and quotes from his daughter, Sharon.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Headline:  Smokey Robinson’s New Skincare Line Really Has A Hold On Me

Summary:  Article talks about new line of products by Smokey Robinson and his wife, Frances Robinson.  My Girl is the women’s line and Get Ready is the men’s line.

 

Thoughts about the reporter:  Could have been written better.  The writer could have used the Associated Press Stylebook and Briefing on Media Law handbook to make the writing more concise.

 

 

 

 

Headline:  Is Donald Trump’s approval rating really 50 percent?

Summary:  Article gives reasons that the Rasmussen polling results always seem higher than other polls.

 

Thoughts on reporter:  Great research.  Easy to understand why Rasmussen polls are always higher.  Brief lesson on how polls work.
